Kids Foundations — Ages 5–7
The Kids Foundations Program is specifically designed to introduce younger children to Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and practical self-defense in a safe, structured and age-appropriate environment.
At this age, learning Jiu-Jitsu is about much more than memorizing techniques. Students begin developing confidence, coordination, body awareness, listening skills and the ability to follow instruction while learning how to interact appropriately with instructors and training partners.
Children are introduced to fundamental Jiu-Jitsu movements and practical self-defense concepts while learning an equally important lesson: physical skills should be used responsibly and only when necessary.
Our goal is to build confidence without creating aggression and to give each child a positive introduction to Jiu-Jitsu that prepares them to eventually progress into our Kids Basics Program.
Ages: 5–7
Class: Mondays, 5:00–5:30 p.m.
Class size is limited.
Kids Basics — Ages 8–13
The Kids Basics Program is our core youth Jiu-Jitsu program for students ages 8–13. It is designed to teach practical self-defense while developing confidence, discipline, awareness and personal responsibility.
Students progress through a structured 22-lesson curriculum covering the essential techniques and principles of Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They learn how to use leverage and technique rather than relying on size or strength, and how to remain calm and think clearly when placed in uncomfortable situations.
Just as importantly, students learn that knowing how to defend themselves comes with responsibility. We emphasize respect, self-control, good judgment and avoiding physical confrontation whenever possible.
Because the curriculum repeats on an 11-week cycle, students continually revisit and refine important skills as their experience and understanding increase.
The goal is not simply to teach techniques. It is to help students become more capable, confident and responsible while preparing those who are ready to eventually progress into our Kids Advanced Program.
Ages: 8–13
Classes: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00–6:45 p.m.
Kids Advanced — By Invitation
The Kids Advanced Program is designed for experienced students who are ready to take the next step in their Jiu-Jitsu development.
Advanced students build upon the skills learned in Kids Basics with additional techniques, combinations, transitions and more challenging training situations. Greater emphasis is placed on connecting techniques together, understanding position and strategy, developing timing and control, and learning to solve problems as situations change.
The Advanced Program gives experienced students new challenges while continuing to reinforce the essential skills and principles of Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As students become more experienced, they are also expected to demonstrate greater maturity, self-control, responsibility and leadership on the mat.
Participation is by invitation. Experience is an important consideration, but advancement is not based solely on how long a child has trained. Technical development, maturity, consistency, attitude, self-control and overall readiness are also considered.
Our objective is continued growth—not simply learning more techniques. We want advanced students to develop a deeper understanding of Jiu-Jitsu along with the judgment and responsibility that should accompany increased ability.
Participation: By invitation
Class: Wednesdays, 5:00–5:45 p.m.
